The policeman asked the driver IF he/she had been drinking [i bez znaku zapytania na końcu] - tak ma to wyglądać. Zdanie continuous zawsze pozostanie continuous w mowie zależ…nej (na tym polega cały dowcip)
- słowo thet w angielskim nie istnieje; that też… tu wcale nie pasuje. Jeśli na początku zdania oryginalnego nie ma słów pytających (np. what, how many books, etc), należ…y zastosować 'if' lub bardziej oficjalne 'whether'
