More and more managers around the world today are waking up to suprising fact: a lot od theirworkers are asleep!.
Secretaries are asleep at their desks.Salespeople are sleeping in their cars.Shop assistants are dozing in the back romms od supermarkets. If sounds incredible but, according to statistics, around 36% od American workers have a short sleep during the working day!
Bet perhaps it's more surprising to hear that some managers think that this is a good thing.Figures increases productivyty and improves safety. In fact, sleepy amployees can cost their companies billions.
Of course in some hot countries shops , factories and offices often close for a few hours after lunch and open again in the late afternoon. Many doctors like this idea. They say that it's completetly normal for people to feel sleepy at about two or three o'clock. So why do most big international corporations still ask us to work in the afternoon when our bodies want to sleep.
Well maybe things are changing Certainly , in Germany they're taking the idea of sleepin at work seriously. Some Conpanies hawe quiet areas where people can relax others have beds for thier workers. And If that doesnthelp there are even sleeping schools where you can learn how to sleep
at home at work ... or even in your English class
