William Shakespeare - Macbeth

The title character of the tragedy is a devoted warrior and a loyal husband. On the one hand, Macbeth wants to remain faithful to his master, on the other, however, trapped in the web of emotions, he obediently fulfils his wife’s orders which involve killing the King of Scotland.
Unlike his wife, Macbeth is not so much interested in the witches’ prophecy. Lady Macbeth dreams about the Scottish crown and so immediately sets herself to manipulate her husband and encourages him to trigger off the prophecy. The thought of sitting on the throne is tempting to both of them. The thought of murder, however, is appalling only to Macbeth who is well aware of the fact that the horrible deed has to be punished. Nevertheless, persuaded by his dear wife, the Thane of Glamis finally does commit the crime. Soon they both feel pangs of guilt.

MY SUGGESTION:
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are totally different characters and they should be portrayed as such. He is afraid of killing Duncan and rather unwilling to do so, whereas she is very energetic and eager to obtain the crown for her husband even if it involves murdering the King. Domineering, Lady Macbeth is the one who pulls the strings here.
When the crime is committed, Macbeth is terrified even more than he has been before. “Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood/ Clean from my hand?” he wonders. Things, however, seem to be easier for his wife; “These deeds must not be thought/ After these ways,” she says, “so, it will make us mad.” Yet nothing will be easy for her any more the moment she finally and irrevocably goes mad . . .
