jednak zdanie drugie moim zdaniem powinno być z "was" . ale z tym "were" to mnie zaciekawiło - muszę poszperać po gramatyce angielsskiej - moze znajdę wytłumaczenie . proponuje jednak zostawic

If he were a better runner, he would run 10km a day. (Gdyby byl lepszym biegaczem, biegal by 10 km dziennie)

"Was" uzyje sie juz w czasie przeszlym:

If he was a good runner, it didn't show during the race. (Jesli (nawet) byl dobrym biegaczem, nie widac tego bylo w biegu)
