According to experts, 16 % of students live in a hall of residence. Does living in a hall of residence have more benefits or drawbacks?
First of all, a student who lives in a hall of residence has friends, who he can learn with. As a result, learning with other could be easier and more enjoyable. Also, living in a hall of residence is useful because students have near to university or college. So they do not have to buy tickets or spend money on public transport. Furthermore, living in a hall of residence is cheaper than living in a private lodging because of low-paid fees.
On the other hand, students living in a hall of residence have problems with concentrating on learning. When he or she shares room with other people and they want to listen to music at the same time while you are learning – that could be a nuisance. Students who are having a party disturb people learning for an important exam. Secondly, there is often no hygiene in student’s residence. There are a lot of inconveniences like cramped, draughty rooms, untidy bathrooms etc. Finally, students often miss their families, homes. Repeatedly they want to sit at home, in silence to learn in calmness.
In my opinion, if there is no option except living in a hall of residence, students should live there. It depends on where you want to study. If he or she wants to study far away from home, halls of residence are a good solution for them.
