Strona bierna, dopełnienie bliższe i dalsze

Ucząc się w szkole języka polskiego dotarłem do tematu o dopełnieniu bliższym i dalszym. Dopełnienie bliższe definiuje dopełnienie w zdaniu, które w stronie biernej staje się podmiotem, dopełnienie dalsze zaś pozostaje "nie ruszone".

W języku angielskim zaś zgłębiając swą wiedzę trafiłem na temat "Passive with an indirect subject"

"When there is both an indirect and a direct object, it is normally the indirect object that becomes the subject of a pissive sentence, like this.

Example
Active: The shop offered John a job.
Passive: John was offered a job by the shop.
NOT: A job was offered to John by the shop."
(książka "new Hotline" intermediate)

Nie rozumiem tej sentencji. Dla mnie zawsze dopełnienie bliższe było podmiotem. Proszę aby mi to ktoś wytłumaczył, pozdrawiam

sprawa ma się następująco-piszę po raz wtóry:
Sklep zaproponował KOMU???-dopełnienie bliższe- Jankowi, a zatem Janek staje się podmiotem w nowym zdaniu:-stąd mamy:
John was offered (CO???) a job by the shop- gdyż odmieniamy wyrażenie BE DONE -czyli formę czasownika być plus 3 forma czasownika- szkoda,że niemogę tego narysować!!!
*** a teraz dalsze CO?? pracę , czyli Praca staje sie podmiotem w nowym zdaniu:
A JOB WAS OFFERED TO JOHN by the shop
