Super Size Me, a documentary directed by and starring Morgan Spurlock, an American independent filmmaker, is an thought-provoking and thrilling film.
Spurlock come across an interesting story of two obese teenage girls that were suing McDonalds for making them fat. From that Spurlock got the idea of proving how bad fast food could be. The director goes to a monthly diet, during which eats only at McDonalds. He carefully prepares for the task by doing a lot of detailed medical examinations to determine his state of health before diet. He also set some rules that must be followed during this 30-day: he must eat three meals a day and eat only what is offered at McDonalds menu (every item at least once) and super-size his meal when the worker propose it.
Spurlock give audience the perfect narrative look – himself. He is also a compassionate listener and a wonderful guide. The director presents the important subject of obesity in the easy to understanding and witty way. Often, on the screen, appear images showing obesity as a serious illness by enormous bodies of people who cannot move. In addition rightly pay attention to the topic of food in school canteens and its impact on students and their increasingly frail health.
Super Size Me is a shocking document that opens your eyes to new worlds problem. I would recommend it only to the older audience because of the character of the film and a few drastic scenes. Everyone should watch it to understand how important health is.
