MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF THE CO-OPERATION OF A HEAT PUMP
AND SOLAR COLLECTORS
The purpose of the diploma thesis is to model, compare and draw a cost effective analysis of installations intended for central heating and domestic hot water heating in a detached house occupied by a family of four people. There was assumed a construction of a solar system coupled with a heat pump and an electric heating system as well as a variation of this installation without a heat pump. The additional intent is to verify an opinion on the greater efficiency of flat collectors as opposed to tube collectors.
The calculations were carried out in the Mathcad program using quasi-fixed states with one-hour timescales. There was also an energy balance performed on the building to calculate the hourly heat demand in the heating season. The atmospheric data was adopted from an averaged thirty-year measurement of the Poznań metropolitan area.
The structure of the work is as follows: The main calculations were preceded by a re-view of the literature in order to present constructions and operations that were modeled after the installations and their components. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 consist of a theoretical part which presents solar collectors, solar installations and heat pumps respectively. Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 contain the calculations. The former is a description of the mathematical modeling and the assumptions for the domestic hot water heating installations. Then the results of the simulations are presented. Chapter 6 is devoted to simulating the installation of the central heating system. The structure of this chapter is similar to the former in that it is supplemented by a brief description and followed by the results of the heat balance of the building. Chapter 7 provides conclusions and a summary of the calculations. The appendix contains a record of the algorithm used in the Mathcad program.
