Some people believe, that our modern life style is very unhealthy. I agree with this statement. But if it is truth, why we live longer than we did a hundred years ago? I’ll try to explain my point of view about this matter.
Many people lead sedentary lifestyle, they are simply slobs. They don’t work out in the gym and eat TV dinners. Couch potatoes don’t live as long as fitness fanatics but they live longer than hundred years ago. Why?
Maybe the main reason is that they have very good health care. There are a lot of medicines for different diseases nowadays. Health care centres have got better educated and better prepare for work consultants.
Another thing is that we get plenty of sleep. This is very important in our live and we should sleep as long as we must.
It is also true that we are generally happier. We’ve got loving families, good friends, some nice pets, cars and other things.
In short we have got higher standard of living but if we don’t want to die on a heart attack or stroke we should follow a sensible diet and keep fit. To stay fit people must give up smoking, reduce stress, and take up sport and brush teeth. If we’ll do it we could live even longer then now.
