LEVELS OF ADVANCEMENT:

1. beginner – progress is visible 

2. false-beginners – know very little, basic vocabulary, one tense etc.

3. elementary – communicate at a very low level, know 3 grammar structures (tenses) etc.

4. pre-intermediate – first who can converse, know more than three grammar items

5. intermediate – lots of vocabulary, lots of complex grammar structures, plateau effect – progress is not visible

6. upper-intermediate – can communicate quite freely, lots of vocabulary and grammar structures

7. advanced – really good, sophisticated vocabulary. all grammar itmes

8. proficiency – fluent speakers, native-like level of proficiency
